Melicent Melvina Taylor was born 3 July 1888 in Cookshire, Compton, Quebec. In 1902, she received "The Longfellow Birthday Book" for 3rd prize from St. Peter’s Sunday School.

For those who may not know what a birthday book is, it is a book with a saying for each day of the year and a place for friends and relatives to sign their name on their birthday. In this book, there are quotes from the poems of Longfellow.

However, of particular interest to genealogists would be the signatures for the different birthdays. In some cases they even wrote their year of birth. I do not recognize most of the names, so I can only assume that they were friends, neighbours, and schoolmates of Millie's. I hope that this will be of help to someone who is searching for that illusive ancestor in the Eastern Townships.
